Start Simple and Dream Big

“This Little Light of Mine” – Delivering a Little Light to a Dark World

“Someday” is a disease that will take your dreams to the grave with you. Pro and con lists are just as bad. If it’s important to you and you want to do it “eventually,” just do it and correct course along the way.  ~  Blake Mycoskie, Author of Start Something that Matters  (TOMS Shoes)

Over the past two months, I have been doing some preliminary research on a philanthropic arm to my business Doula Services Northwest.  I have wanted to start this up for almost 10 years and am finally jumping out of my fear jacket and moving ahead.  With the help of some answered prayers I am hopeful to go to Africa this year on a “research” adventure.

My goals right now:  1) to help provide support to newborns and infants who have lost one or both parents to AIDS and 2) to teach caregivers the importance of early human touch and nurturing.  Africa is where I am going to start and I have a feeling I will be taken many places with this project (Vietnam, China, Mexico…).   Start Simple and Dream Big!

“Our world is much bigger than we know.  To extend our reach beyond what we know creates a more meaningful and knowledgeable appreciation for our world as a whole.  Reaching out to countries abroad, helps create a feeling of connectedness. When we are connected we can create change and make the world a better place. ” –  Tina Millican

As I am privileged enough to have you as a ‘friend’ on FB, when you posted way back when about Mark Mycoskie’s book, I decided to jump on it! [See how you affect the world around you?]
Well between ‘Start Something that Matters’ and ‘Leaving Microsoft to Change the World’ by John Wood, I too am catching the trade winds in my sail! – More to be announced later!

This year is going to be amazing for you, and many babies. If there is anything I can ever help with – please just get in touch! Dream bigger and bigger, because if anyone can do this, it’s you!

Way to go Tina. How very exciting for you! Do you know Jannekah Rosser Guya? She lives in Africa, is a midwife, has started a minstry teaching and training doctors and nurses. She is in the US right now and will be speaking at our church on April 1st.
